A law graduate from Stellenbosch, Higgo was lured into the wine industry after his studies, and what was meant to be a sabbatical ended up as a way of life.

Certified with the Court of Master Sommeliers, Higgo consults to various establishments; judges on wine competitions and publications locally and abroad, and tries his hand occasionally at writing.

He dreams of a hermit lifestyle on the southern peninsula, but is constantly interrupted by better things to do.

Pick of the bunch

Petrolhead Red Blend 2016

A completely unique expression of Rhone red varietals from the Swartland, this blend of Syrah, Cinsault and Mourvèdre is positively brimming with vibrancy and bright fruit. The palate is seriously structured, layered and complex without any heaviness and effortless balance. Expect black cherry, fleshy blueberry, cloves and white pepper with undertones of raw iron and clay. Lasting, mouthwatering intensity of flavour that makes it a great al fresco food companion.
